'The Water Queen'

Five women made headlines running for the 2020 democratic nomination for president. Jeannette Rankin, a republican from Montana, was the first women elected to the House of Representatives. Sarah Gammon Bick- ford was the first woman in Montana, and probably the only female African American, to own a utility company in Virginia City.

Finalists limbo

A second game against Fort Benton in the 2020 State C Boys Basketball Tournament remains in in the way of Twin Bridges placing third.

The tournament in Missoula was halted the night before the final games due to the spread of the coronavirus reaching Montana. It is uncertain if the final games will be rescheduled.

Empty shelves

Even before the coronavirus was ever confirmed on Montana soil, Madison County was feeling the effects. The grocery stores in Ennis, Twin Bridges and Sheridan have all been experiencing unprecedented demand, particularly for sanitizers and paper products.

Hardship Fears

The coronavirus has dealt a major blow to the economy of southwest Montana. The enforced closure of all bars and restaurants along with the decision by many small businesses to shut up shop, means added pressure on an already struggling workforce. That coupled with the threat of illness is putting added pressure on many low income families.
