The 2019 municipal general election ballots were mailed to all qualified voters in Ennis, Virginia City and Twin Bridges Oct. 18. Sheridan’s elections are canceled because seats that are eligible for reelection are uncontested.

Selecting an interim mayor

A Twin Bridges’ Town Council decision​

The council will choose an interim mayor for Twin Bridges before their next monthly meeting. A subcommittee, comprised of two council members, conducted interviews with the two applicants, Patti Haze and Joe Willauer, Oct. 11. 

A hydraulic system for new mechanical lids at the Nevada City dumpsite was installed to help keep trash contained and out of reach from bears Oct. 2.

Simulation in Motion – Montana Inc. conducted a weekend of emergency medical training for members of the Ennis Ambulance Service, Madison Valley Rural Fire Department, Lifeflight and neighboring emergency medical technicians at the Ennis Fire Hall Sept. 28 -19.

The Ruby Valley Swimming Club replaced the Sheridan pool filter Sept. 26. 

A new fiberglass pool filter replaced the public pool’s original filter from 1969. It was evident that the 50-year-old water filter had passed its useful life with the increasing problems of water quality, temperature and flaking rust from the steel filter.

Donivan Campbell wrapped his hands around the back of his head and neck as a grizzly bear pinned him face down in a forest west of Black Butte, the highest peak of the Gravelly Mountains. He felt the moist warmth of the bear’s mouth on the hand covering his head as a large tooth slid between his fingers.
