MANHATTAN—The Twin Bridges Falcons and the Ennis Mustangs continued their post-season play at the divisional volleyball tournament hosted by Manhattan Christian November 1-3. The tournament began on Thursday and was the final step in qualifying for the state championship tournament this weekend.
ENNIS—This weekend brought to a close a race series that might have seemed long to anyone who wasn’t one of the participants.
ENNIS—The Greater Yellowstone Adventure Series continued over the weekend of July 21-22 with its double marathon weekend, the only one of its kind in Montana. The Madison and Big Sky marathons saw their 11th and 4th annual iterations, respectively, and two out-of-towners nabbed three of the four marathon titles between them.
ENNIS— Last week, we introduced you to Sam Korsmoe, race director and outdoor educator extraordinaire, and this week we begin a reporter’s journey to achieve what only 24 have achieved in the history of the GYAS: the title of total badass (TBA, as it’s referred to by participants).
ENNIS - The way Sam Korsmoe sees it, race directors like to call their respective marathons, 5Ks and 10Ks the most beautiful, the most difficult, the most whatever.
But, says Korsmoe, those descriptors are all completely subjective. He didn’t want that when he created the Greater Yellowstone Adventure Series (GYAS) .
TWIN BRIDGES - For members of Montana’s cycling community, RATPOD is a well-known event, and a goal for many. This year the event—which stands for Riding Around The Pioneers in One Day—added a second ride to their annual fundraiser.
FAIRMONT - Ennis High School freshman Landri Paladichuk was uncertain of where she’d finish heading into the state tournament. Through the first day of competition, she was trailing the leader, Manhattan Christian’s Jillian Frye, by two strokes, and was tied with golfers from Harlowton and Lone Peak.
GREAT FALLS - Athletes from Ennis, Harrison, Sheridan and Twin Bridges high schools traveled to Great Falls May 25-26 for the Class C state track and field meet. The Madison Valley had representatives in throws, jumps, sprints and distance events, and they brought home some hardware from the weekend.
Harrison took six competitors to State Track meet, half the team and just shy of a quarter of the high school’s overall team, according to Kaysha Young.
