Entire Ennis varsity cross-country team qualifies for state

It was a long but successful day for Ennis’ long-distance runners at the Belgrade XC Meet in Bozeman on Sep. 2. Freshman boys started the day at 10 a.m., with competitors pounding the pavement throughout the day, ending with middle school girls at 2:15 p.m.

Head Coach Melinda Legg said the entire team of runners has shown improvement, and all her high school runners have now qualified for the state meet in Missoula set for Oct. 23.

Runs worth writing home about Middle school medalists:

Sixth grader Gavin Sather: 6th place, 11:21

Seventh grader Finn Graden: 7th place, 11:28

High school:

Freshman Sky Boyd: 9th in the freshman girls race, 24:38

Junior Genesis Boyles: 7th in the JV girls race, 23:36

Senior Tait Olson: 10th in JV boys race with a personal best, 19:34.

Ennis’ high school cross-country athletes now set their sights on their third meet of the season: Butte on Sep. 7.
