Cowboys and cowgirls to watch at the Ennis 4th of July rodeos
The Ennis rodeo tradition continues on July 3 and 4 at the rodeo grounds
On July 3 and 4 the Ennis Rodeo Grounds will host two nights of Northern Rodeo Association (NRA) action. The show will begin at 7 p.m. both nights. Tickets are available at the Ennis Pharmacy or at the gate on the day of the show.
On Thursday, July 3 fans will be treated to a performance by Madison County cowboys Britt Ellerman and Nick Albrecht of Sheridan in the team roping event. They will also see a steer wrestling run by Justus Peterson of Dillon who is currently on top of the NRA standings and Leighton LaFromboise of Helena who is second in the bareback standings. The association's current leader in saddle bronc riding, Andrew Evjene, is set to compete Thursday as well.
The Thursday night bull riding will feature a battle between top ranked Caden Fitzpatrick of Polson and fourth ranked Caleb Oshea of Helena. The top breakaway roper and all around cowgirl Molly Salmond of Choteau will try to add to her season leads in what promises to be a night of intense competition.
On Friday night Brand Morgan of McAllister will try his luck on the Circle Circle Rodeo saddle broncs. He’s currently sixth in the association standings. Colby Gravier and Ryan Tanner, also both from McAllister, will give the bull riding a go in front of a hometown crowd. Owen Monfeldt of Cody, Wyo., is the association's third ranked bull rider and will be the top ranked competitor in Friday’s field.
The ladies barrel racing will be competitive on Friday with Tye and Julie Brown of Helena, ranked 4th and 7th in the season standings respectively, competing with number six ranked Jessica Bagnell of Polson. Craig Bagnell of Polson is third in the tie down roping and will try to move up the standings as well.
