A person can get stuck in the mentality that if you grow up in a small area, you won’t have the same opportunities as others living in cities or metropolitan places. It can feel like the success of whatever it is you are trying to succeed in is based on location, not ability or passion.
Ms. Tymbre Stender’s 5th grade class in Sheridan decided to do a Pre-K - 6 food drive competition to benefit the Ruby Valley Food Pantry. They decided this in a class meeting and went to the principal, Mr. Stout, who told them that if they did a good job preparing and carrying out the process, he would provide ice cream to the winning class.
Twin Bridges
At Twin Bridges School District’s January board meeting, quite a few community members attended in-person and virtually to express their support for school staff and programs.
Sheridan boys’ varsity rode a rollercoaster on Jan. 8 and 9.
The Panther boys overcame Gardiner on Jan. 8, but not by much. Head Coach Ben Holland said the boys were off to a slow start, but battled back, ending the game with 26 points in the fourth quarter alone. The final score was a close one – Panthers 50, Bruins 48.
This holiday season, school districts in Madison County moved their Christmas concerts and plays from the stage to the screen. Ennis, Alder, Harrison and Sheridan School Districts all opted to film students’ performances and distribute them to parents online.
Alder
The Alder School Board discussed leftover lunch money as part of last Thursday evening’s meeting.
Ennis
Ennis High School is running out of space, Ennis Schools Superintendent Casey Klasna said.
Twin Bridges
Twin Bridges Schools were closed last week after both a student and staff member tested positive with the coronavirus.
Sheridan community leaders and members provided input on the town’s future growth policy and capital improvement plans at the Sheridan Senior Center Oct. 7.
