The Sheridan Panthers are growing into their role as contenders in the 8-man football Southern Division
The Panthers kick off their season on the road against Lame Deer Friday night
Coach Tyler Lott’s Sheridan Panthers earned a hard fought third place finish in the 8-man football Southern Division in 2025. They are returning five starters from the very young 2025 team and are looking to build on last year’s success.
“Fans should be excited to watch a team that has the ability to mix it up with anyone in the conference,” said Lott. “We had some success last year and are returning five starters, so I’m looking forward to seeing what their summer growth and added maturity will bring to our team. They now have the responsibility of being leaders and the backbone of the program. Our senior, Briggs Munns, along with our four juniors, Logan McDougal, Eirik Reedy, Brody Decker, and Charlie Larsen will be our core.”
Lott has been pleased with the start of the team’s training camp and is counting on his leaders to set the tone for the new season.
“It’s always a pleasure to see the improvement across the board for our players both physically and mentally. We had a lot of strong kids show up to camp that also improved their football IQ during the offseason,” he said. “We always focus on the fundamentals. Every year brings a lot of excitement and opportunity to mix things up. Along with that though, we like to stay true to our identity and make sure we play sound football.”
“The juniors have stepped up in a big way to start this year with leadership. Briggs returns this week from basic training and I know he will be right there at the front as well. They are familiar with what we do as a team and have taken action to lead the younger players with their effort and attitude,” he continued. “Sophomores that we’re expecting to take a larger roll this year will be Dax Dietrich, Grady Elser, and Hunter Martens. We are looking forward to a competitive season.”
The season gets underway on Aug. 28 with a road trip to Lame Deer, before the Panthers return to opener their home schedule on Sept. 4 against Ennis.
