Nursing home COVID update moved to twice a month
Madison County COVID & Vaccination Update
As of of May 4, Madison County reported eight active COVID-19 cases. There have been 781 confirmed cases in the county since the start of the pandemic and there are currently zero hospitalizations.
Madison County has 2,493 residents fully vaccinated and 5,327 total doses administered. Joe Brummell, incident command team leader, said that the county goes up about 100 in terms of fully vaccinated residents each week.
At Tobacco Root Mountains Center (TRMCC) in Sheridan, no residents or staff are quarantined. At Madison Valley Manor (MVM) in Ennis, the same criteria apply.
The county prevalence rate is 5.2%. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has changed some of their regulations, allowing nursing home residents who are fully vaccinated to opt out of routing weekly testing dictated by the 5.2% rate.
The Madison County Board of Commissioners and Allison Veland, nursing home administrator for MVM, decided to move nursing home COVID updates to a biweekly event, rather than a weekly agenda item.
