Shelter in place
After a press call with Gov. Bullock on March 26, Montana is to follow a shelter in place directive effective Saturday at 12:01 a.m.
“Under these measures, Montanans may leave their homes for essential activities including for health and safety, for necessary supplies and services, for certain types of work and to take care of others. Additionally, Montanans may leave their homes for outdoor activity as long as they comply with social distancing requirements,” Gov. Bullock said.
Federal guidelines for essential business will be in effect. Essential businesses are defined in the directive linked below.
This is a public health order that can be enforced by a county attorney, an attorney general or the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). The hope is that it will be self-enforced, but it does have enforcement authority attached, Gov. Bullock said.
Current testing is done on people with symptoms, those who have traveled to or from places of concern, or those who have had contact with COVID-19 positive individuals.
“Addressing COVID-19 isn’t done by one doctor, or one local county health official, or anyone in Helena. Addressing this properly is a responsibility of every single one of us,” Gov. Bullock said.
As Thursday evening, March 26, 90 cases were reported in Montana.
