Memorial Day ceremonies

MADISON COUNTY - Anderson-Simpson Post 89 of The American Legion will conduct Memorial Day Veteran’s Remembrance Ceremonies at the Sheridan, Laurin, Taylor (Alder), Nevada City and Virginia City cemeteries on Memorial Day, May 28.

The first ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in the veteran plot of the Sheridan Cemetery. Services at the other cemeteries follow in this order: Laurin, Taylor, Nevada City and Virginia City, around 1 p.m. 

The services will honor Ruby Valley veterans no longer with us.  Questions concerning the services should be directed to Cliff Morgan, Post Commander at 842-7288 or Mike Morgan, Post Adjutant at 842-5085.

Other services will be held by Twin Bridges veterans at three additional local cemeteries: Silver Star, 10 a.m.; Point of Rocks, 10:45 a.m.; and Twin Bridges, 11:30 a.m. The services will be followed by flag disposal ceremonies. Anyone wishing to dispose of an old flag can do so.
