Working group gets serious about improving forest health

The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest (BDNF) is the largest national forest in Montana. Out of the 3.38 million acres—spanning eight counties including Madison County—approximately 40 percent is affected by the mountain pine beetle, according to Leona Rodreick, BDNF public relations officer.

“In my opinion, we are in an emergency situation,” Madison County Commissioner Dave Schulz said.
