The Madisonian and staff take home honors at MNA convention

The Madisonian won 13 awards during the Montana Newspaper Association’s Better Newspaper Contest for 2011.

The Madisonian is considered a division II newspaper, which includes all newspapers with a circulation between 1,599 and 2,000.

The awards were presented at the annual MNA convention held last weekend in Big Sky.

The Madisonian’s editor Greg Lemon won a first place plaque for Best Long Feature, for his article on a grizzly bear attack in the Gravelly Mountains. The story also won the Mark Henckel Outdoors award for best outdoor writing.

Lemon also won first place in general writing excellence.

The Madisonian’s former graphic designer Erica Senf won first place for Best Single House Ad.

The Madisonian also won first place for best web project for it’s online events calendar, OutpostEvents.net.

The Madisionian also won awards in the following categories: Best Serious Column, Best Front Page Design, Best Nature Photo, Best Advertising Series, Best Website and General Excellence.
