Cowboys and cowgirls 50 and up converged on the Madison County Fairgrounds rodeo arena last weekend for the National Senior Pro Rodeo. Contestants from 11 states and Canada participated in team roping, steer wrestling, tie down, ribbon roping, barrel racing and men’s and women’s breakaway roping during the two day event.
Brand Morgan, Tracer Croy and Amanda Russell all finished their 2017 rodeo season earlier this month at the Montana State High School Rodeo finals in Baker.
The Northern Rodeo Association announced Ennis Rodeo Inc., won the 2016 Gold Rodeo of the Year award, a top honor in the rodeo circuit. The last time Ennis received the award was in 1982.
Benny Reynolds was an all-around cowboy. But he wasn’t pretending to be a cowboy to put on a show, he was the real deal.
When he passed away on Feb. 14, 2014, from a heart attack, he was doing what he loved – driving his tractor on his ranch outside of Twin Bridges. People from across the United States remember Benny Reynolds as one of rodeo’s greats, but he was much more than that. In Madison County he was a rancher, father and friend.
