The Madison County Commissioners hosted their quarterly interagency meeting on Oct. 5 at the fire hall and community center in Alder. Representatives from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Madison County Emergency Management and the commissioners’ office were all present.
With 35 years total in law enforcement, Orr retried from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office as a captain in 2008 after 21 years with the county. While he was with the sheriff’s office, Orr also volunteered his time with the Virginia City Volunteer Fire Department, which he gave 17 years to. He joined the Madison Valley Rural Fire District in 2005, and Madison Valley Search and Rescue after he retired in 2008.
Students experience an outdoor classroom during annual Kids’ River Resource Day
It was purple versus purple, cat versus cat in the Sheridan gymnasium on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The Lady Panthers hosted the Lady Wildcats for mid-season league action and were able to walk away victorious. The “W” put the Panthers in fifth place in league standings, as of Sept. 27.
The Madison County Fair Board, in conjunction with the community, has a few big decisions to make in the next month, which they discussed at their Sept. 21 meeting in Twin Bridges. The county is working with Great West Engineering to develop a master plan for the fairgrounds, and the board’s input will guide that document.

Last week was homecoming for the Twin Bridges Falcons, who hosted Manhattan Christian and Ennis for back-to-back games. After defeating the Eagles on Friday night, the Falcons took on the mighty Mustangs, who sit at number one in conference standings.
