Commissioner Allhands looks to address boundary line discrepancy

After discovering a discrepancy in the county’s district boundary lines last fall, Madison County Clerk and Recorder and Election Administrator Kathleen Mumme is back on the case, this time at the request of District One Commissioner Dan Allhands.

Trash talk: Solid waste board hears complaints about Cardwell site

Residents addressed the solid waste board at the meeting asking what could be done to control the overflow of trash and keep people who are not Madison County residents from utilizing the site. Everything from constructing a fence around the site to signs to enforcing a fine was suggested.

MACo elects Hart as second vice president

When commissioners from all of Montana’s 56 counties met in Billings at the end of September for their annual fall Montana Association of Counties conference, Madison County’s own commissioner Jim Hart was elected to MACo’s administration.


Out of Madison County’s 5,822 registered voters, 2,776 filled out ballots for a 47.68 percent voter turnout.

Schulz named new MACo president

On Sept. 24, Dave Schulz became the first Madison County commissioner to accept the role of president for the Montana Association of Counties (MACo). Schulz, who has been a Madison County commissioner for 14 years, is now the face of MACo and will represent the organization for an entire year.
