Commission holds public hearing for no wake rules on section of Madison River

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission held a public hearing on Feb. 15 regarding a proposal to restrict motorized boat use on the Madison River to a no wake speed from the north Ennis Lake Bridge to the Madison Dam. The hearing was held at Fish, Wildlife and Parks region three headquarters in Bozeman at 6 p.m.

Bear Creek area closure lifted

On Oct. 20, the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest lifted the closure of the Bear Creek area of the Madison Mountain Range southeast of Ennis.
The area was closed following the Oct. 1 human-grizzly bear encounter 3 miles up North Fork Bear Creek on a recommendation from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Following the human-grizzly bear encounter 3 miles up North Fork Bear Creek on Oct. 1, the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest temporarily closed trails and the area surrounding Bear Creek leading into the Lee Metcalf Wilderness.

MDT starts district-wide rumble strip project with Highway 84

On Friday, Oct. 16, the Montana Department of Transportation’s Butte district started the first stretch of a project, which will add center rumble strips to 625 miles of highway in Southwest Montana.
