In Roxane Shammel’s classes at Sheridan Schools, students are taught the importance of family – they explore a variety of topics from personal finance management to raising a family to cooking.
“Family and Consumer Sciences courses allow students to plan for possible careers, develop practical skills for employment, understand the importance of nutrition and learn about appropriate childcare practices, financial literacy, resource management, parenting and the art of positive communication,” Shammel said. “At Sheridan High School students also have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through a variety of activities and projects in the career and technical student organization, FCCLA.”
