Ruby Valley SAR simulates incident command, practices search for missing people

“What we have is a wife,” said Rick Hafenfeld with Ruby Valley Search and Resuce at the start of the organization’s June 4 training. “She’s divorced and a school teacher in Helena. She has two kids and she reluctantly allowed them to go camping with their dad.”

Hafenfeld described the ‘dad’ in the scenario as a “deadbeat.”

“He was supposed to check in with the ex-wife, and he hasn’t been,” he said. “She’s coming here for an interview, and we’re going to break down in to three units – planning, logistics and operations.”
