Work on Main Street of Ennis began Tuesday and if the weather cooperates – and that’s a big if – it should mostly be done in a couple weeks, according to the contractor working on the project.
The first part of the project will be to put in ramps on several locations on Ennis’ sidewalks, said Brent Foley, with Blahnik Construction.
By Friday, the company will begin milling the asphalt along Main Street, Foley said. This process will take the top layer of asphalt off. They’ll first do one lane of the road and then the next.
The project will close all but one lane of traffic along Main Street, he said.
Once the milling is done, the asphalt will go down, Foley said.
Depending on weather, this process could take two days. However, if the milling is done and then it rains, the paving will have to wait for everything to dry out.
During the milling and paving process there will be limited parking on Main Street and no diagonal parking, he said.
The current schedule is to begin milling at 8 a.m. Friday morning and begin paving at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
