DEQ, Madison Conservation District discuss the health of area waterways

“Raise your hand if you’ve used one of our waterways in the last three days,” said Madison Watershed coordinator Sunni Heikes-Knapton to more than 20 community members gathered at the Ennis Elementary School on May 20.

At least half of the hands in the room reached toward the ceiling. When Heikes-Knapton asked how the water was used, the answers varied from fishing to irrigating to recreating.
