BLUE LAKE FIRE, July 23 update

The Blue Lake Fire, which is burning 10 miles southwest of Ennis was 442 acres on July 23 at noon, according to the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

The lightning-caused fire was reported at 2:45 p.m. on July 21. It is burning on privately owned and Bureau of Land Management land 1 1/2 miles south of Axolotl Lake.

On Saturday at noon, the agencies involved in the fire hosted a public meeting at the Madison Valley Rural Fire Department station three to brief the community on what operations have taken place and what is planned.

In front of a packed stadium, two Madison County footballers made all star debuts at the 70th annual Montana East-West Shrine Game at the Alumni Coliseum in Butte, Saturday, July 16.

Tracen Eggers of Twin Bridges and Dustin Wham of Ennis both sported a red West jersey and helped lead the team to a 31 point victory over East.

After my third birthday, my mother took me weekly to Roanoak Community Center in Kansas City so I could spend an hour somersaulting and cartwheeling my way up and down the gym.

I remember being completely in love with my gymnastic class, but didn’t become infatuated with the larger aspects of the sport until the 1996 Olympics.
