Officials need info on poached lion

Fish, Wildlife and Parks are looking for any information on a mountain lion that was poached near Whitehall.

The mountain lion was discovered near the Point of Rocks just south of Whitehall. The female lion had been illegally shot to death.

FWP says anyone with any information pertaining to the poaching should call 1-800-TIP-MONT. Callers with information may receive an award.

The hunting season for mountain lions ended Dec. 22, while the season to hunt female lions ended Dec. 12. Hunting for mountains lions in region 3 is regulated based on a quota system. Most of these quotas have already been met. The quota for District 320/333, the area where the lion was killed, is two females.
