William J. Morton

It is with our deepest sorrow to inform you, that after a brave and courageous fight with his battle with cancer, we lost our loved one, William J. Morton on Jan. 14, 2018. No words can describe the great grief we all feel from the void of such a dear, incredibly curious man with a passion to experience life to the fullest. Bill was a true renaissance man; Air Force Captain, urological surgeon, lawyer, judge, author, pianist and had a wonderful love for flying, sailing, astronomy, history, music, the arts, photography, ornithology, and nature, especially fly fishing. A role model to many, he believed in chasing your dreams and never giving up, and never stop learning “knowledge is power” was his favorite advice. And in the end, he showed the true meaning of giving back, in an unselfish act, Bill donated his body to medical research. He will always be remembered with such joy and held in our hearts forever, Bill will be lovingly missed by his family and friends especially his wife, Monna Jean Morton.

The Mortons lived in Ennis for many years and were big supporters of the Madison River Foundation and the hospital, which received a donation of their grand piano when they moved away from Ennis.

A memorial and interment service will take place on Sun., Feb. 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at Boca Raton Mausoleum (451 SW 4th Avenue, Boca Raton, FL 33432). Please join us in celebrating and honoring Bill's life with a luncheon to share stories and remember a life well lived, at the Waterston Resort and Marina Boca Raton (999 E. Camino Real, Boca Raton, FL 33432), immediately following the services on Sunday.
