Barbie Harman Durham

May 24, 1960 - April 16, 2018

Barbie Harman Durham passed away April 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, after a tough fought 4-year battle with lung cancer.  Barbie was born May 24, 1960 to Bobbi and Orin Harman in Arco, Idaho. She spent her young years in southern Idaho and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1978.  Barbie moved to the Madison Valley in 1988 when she married Todd Durham of Cameron.
Barbie enjoyed working and was an extremely active community member serving as County grant writer and on several boards including County Airport Board and Madison County Housing Board.  She was appointed by both Governor Schweitzer and Governor Bullock to the Montana Heritage Commission which she served on for more than 10 years as an officer and member of the Executive Board.  She represented Madison County for more than a decade on the Board of Directors of Human Resources District 12. She was involved in the creation of low-income senior housing as well as shelters for the homeless.  Barbie will be remembered in Virginia City for her work in securing the money for the new visitor center on the north entrance to town. She was very active with the Economic Development Councils and served as Executive Director of Headwaters Economic Development Agency, where she worked up until her final days. Barbie resided on many other boards and volunteered her time to countless community development projects.  Barbie was also a devoted Mustang fan and spent many hours watching her son and daughter play sports. She will be missed by many who had so much respect for her kindness, compassion, and humanity.
Barbie is survived by her long-time partner, Todd Durham of Cameron, son Teelan Durham of Bozeman, daughter Tori (Cody) Pierson of Coeur d’Alene, brother Kelly (Tammy) Harman of Salt Lake City, brother Rob (Lieha) Harman of Florida, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at the Hotel Finlen in Butte, Montana on Saturday, April 21st at 1 PM. Luncheon will follow.
