The Ennis School Board narrowed the district’s search for an architect to design its high school’s expansion down to three firms at their February meeting.

Changes are coming to the Ennis area ambulance service. Starting May 1, the Madison Valley Medical Center will take over where the volunteer-staffed Ennis Ambulance Service will leave off, following a decision made in late 2020 by the Town of Ennis and MVMC.

Tom Urell and Jim Singer were out hiking up Jack Creek Trail, U.S. Forest Service Trail 6317, about 10 miles east of Ennis, Mont on Jan. 27. Both men were familiar with the area and were experienced outdoorsmen—both hunters and Singer formally employed at Glacier National Park.

During the Madison County Commissioners’ Meeting on Jan. 12, extending hazard pay for nursing home employees was approved through the end of January.

As of Tuesday morning, only one Madison Valley Manor (MVM) resident remained in quarantine and the Covid unit inside MVM has been taken down after an outbreak on Jan. 10. Six staff members are still in quarantine.

“Let me just take all my gear off,” Alison Veland, MVM administrator in training, said.

Nutty Montanan owner Dennis Davies will be the first to admit he’s got neither the time nor the money to take on his most recent project – building and giving away desks for any kid that needs one, “But my intuition tells me I should be doing this,” he said, with 10 desks completed on only his third day into the project.

With current contracted Madison County Nursing Home Administrator Steve McNeece’s last day slated for March 17, the Madison County Board of Commissioners initiated the hiring process for his successor at their weekly meeting on Jan. 5.

Montana House District 71 Representative Kenneth Walsh, R-Twin Bridges, began his first Montana State Legislature session inside the Montana capitol this year. House District 71 encompasses Madison County and parts of Silver Bow and Jefferson Counties.
