Feature Photo: New tracks in Virginia City just in time for summer

An old rail line curves toward a new section of track recently laid near the Virginia City depot. After a season’s absence, the small train that ferries tourists and visitors between Virginia and Nevada CIties will be in operation this summer after the Montana Heritage Commission hired local contractor Nevin Construction to rebuild the necessary tracks. A section of the old tracks were removed after the MHC lost a lawsuit last year with a neighboring landowner. The old Baldwin Number 12 Steam Engine will not be in  operation this summer, as the MHC is still raising money for the necessary repairs and inspections.
