New emergency notification system will reach more people

Madison County’s emergency management department should have a new emergency notification system (ENS) in place the first week of June, according to the department’s deputy director, Steve DiGiovanna. The department recently purchased the system after over a month of contract negotiations. An ENS is used to alert residents of issues around the county—DiGiovanna said it has been used for fire warnings, road closures and even mountain lion sightings in the past.
