The Twin Bridges Lady Falcons lost their second game of the season Saturday night in Great Falls, falling to Belt in the state championship game 59-56 despite 41 points from their standout player Peyton Ferris.
Ferris dominated the game, but the women from Belt made shots down the stretch and pulled out a narrow victory in the end.
Ferris was named tournament MVP averaging nearly 28 points per game.
Earlier in the evening, the Ennis Lady Mustangs fell in the consolation final game to Winnett/Grass Range 47-23.
Mustang Mikayla Sullivan and Ferris were both named to the all tournament team.
In route to the state title game, the Falcons defeated the Fairview Lady Warriors Friday 58-44.
The win was particularly sweet as Fairview defeated the Twin Bridges men in state semifinal game the week before.
The Lady Mustang’s road to the consolation final game started with a loss Thursday to Belt 54-37, which was followed by two victories – one in overtime over Ekalaka and a tight win against Fairview 51-49.
However, the girls from Winnett/Grass Range proved to be too much for the Mustangs in the game for third place.
Tournament statistics weren’t made available by press time Tuesday.
