Empty bowls, full hearts

ENNIS – Artist and Gallery 287 owner Cathy Toot has been familiar with the nationwide “Empty Bowls” fundraiser series for quite a while, and with a selection of local potters’ work on display in her gallery, thought it was time that she brought the movement to Ennis.

Led by Ennis music director Andrew Scruggs (right) carolers traversed up and down Main Street and even entered businesses like Shedhorn Sports to spread some holiday cheer.

Christmas kickoff

ENNIS—Adding to a long string of holiday festivities, Ennis hosted its annual Christmas Stroll on Friday, December 7, with a slew of festive activities and competitions.

Before it became the Madison Meadows golf course and Valley Garden Golf Village, Valley Garden Ranch was a stretch of ranchland with a diverse history, from polo horses to cattle. Toni Bowen, who lives in the golf course development now, decided to research the story earlier this year.

Uncovering history

ENNIS—Earlier this year, Toni Bowen tried to look up the history of the Madison Meadows Golf Course, and by extension, the ranch that had been there for decades before the golf course came to be.
