Ennis chamber’s More Card offers added value for local businesses, consumers

Board members of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce are always searching for creative ways to help promote local businesses.

Now they are ready to introduce the More Card to offer an incentive for customers to purchase goods and services from Ennis Chamber member businesses. The More Card offers discounts and special promotions for the cardholder. Ennis business owners who are chamber members can offer promotions of their choosing. The promotion may be anything from a percentage discount off merchandise or services, a “buy one get one free” type offer, a special discount for a specific product or whatever special offer the merchant wants to offer on any given day.

The purpose of the More Card is twofold, said chamber board member Mariah Oliver.

“The Chamber wants to help businesses attract new business as well as a way to reward their existing customers,” Oliver explained.

The 2011 More Card will be sold for the regular price of $30 and will allow cardholders the opportunity to take advantage discounts and promotions from participating Ennis area businesses, through the end of 2011. The proceeds from the sale of the cards will be used for marketing and promoting Ennis chamber member businesses as well as promoting Ennis overall.

The More Card will be available at the Ennis Chamber of Commerce office as well as from participating members. They may also be available for purchase from some non-member businesses, even though they won’t be able to offer a “deal,” said Oliver.

“Everyone has been super supportive of the program,” she said.

The chamber will hold special More Card sales periodically, where people can pick up their card for a reduced price.

Participating businesses can change their offers throughout the program and updates will be posted on the Ennis chamber’s Facebook page as well as at the chamber office and at local businesses.

“There will be lots of marketing to support the program and advise on what business has what deal to offer,” Oliver said.

Participating businesses will have More Card posters in their windows and at their cash registers. The chamber is still gathering participating businesses and will soon print a list cardholders can use as a reference.

A good example of a business promotion is one from Madison Foods, where through May 18 they are offering More Card holders an eight piece fried chicken dinner at the time of purchase when they spend $50 or more.
