Election results: Schulz and Shaw win locally, Tester declares victory

Dave Schulz will retain his seat as Madison County Commissioner and Ray Shaw has been elected as representative for Montana House District 71. But things are still undecided with the Montana governor’s race, which is still too close to call. Hill is still a few thousand votes behind Bullock. Chuck Johnson, out of Lee Newspaper’s state bureau in Helena, tweeted that Bullock is ahead in Cascade, Gallatin, Lewis and Clark, Silver Bow, Deer Lodge and Missoula Counties. Hill is ahead in Flathead, Ravalli and Yellowstone Counties, but it’s close in Yellowstone County.

And finally results are coming in for state races. Long voting lines in Montana’s population centers caused delays in getting results tallied. But Sen. Jon Tester is declaring victory over challenger Rep. Denny Rehberg. For more info on that look here.

In the local races, Schulz faced a challenge from Sheridan resident Ken Yecny. The unofficial results are Schulz 912 to Yecny’s 603.

Shaw ran against Independent Kim Miller in the general election after defeating incumbent representative Bob Wagner in the primary. Shaw defeated Miller 3293 to 2473.

Check back for full results Wednesday.
