The defending Class C state champion Twin Bridges girls cross country team proved they still have what it takes at the Townsend meet on Saturday. Jessica George took third in the girls’ varsity race with her time of 19:27.19 and Paige Phillips finished ninth in a time of 20:51.03. Julia Cox clocked a time of 22:24.89 for 22nd place.
The Twin Bridges boys finished in the back half of the boys’ varsity race. Andrew George was the Falcons’ top finisher in 30th place with a time of 18:55.45. Ben Corrigan finished in 19:31.66 for 41st place. The boys hope to finish one place better at state this weekend than they did last year with their second place finish.
The Ennis Mustangs proved to be a competitive bunch, as well. Race Owens claimed 16th place with his 17:40 finish. Teammate Wyatt Murdoch was not far behind with a time of 18:02 for 20th place. Lane Sitz finished just out of the top half with a recorded a time of 18:54 for 29th place. Wade Luly finished in 20:14 for 48th place.
Harrison’s Taya DeFrance was the school’s only runner to compete in a varsity race in Townsend. She clocked a time of 21:20 to finish 12th of 41 runners.
The state meet is in Missoula on Saturday, Oct. 26.
