It is no surprise that use of the Ennis Big Sky Airport is on the rise, and has been in recent years. In fact, the growth rate has been around 30 percent per year for the last few years, according to Lance Bowser, engineer with Robert Peccia & Associates, the firm that handles engineering and construction on Madison County’s airports.

Senate Bill 307, which would revise laws dealing with school funding, passed the Senate, 48 – 1, at the end of February, and had its first hearing in the House of Representatives on March 13.
Earlier this month, I attended the University of Montana School of Journalism’s internship and career fair. I traveled to Missoula without any expectations – though The Madisonian and the West Yellowstone Star are not desperate for interns, I wanted to see a young crop of journalists. If I found a student with skills complimentary to what our organization preferences, all the better!
It is no secret that nationwide, volunteer services are dwindling and disappearing – Madison County is no exception. A giant red sign hangs outside Sheridan’s town hall that reads VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, the Ruby Valley Ambulance has posted ads in The Madisonian looking for volunteers and the same holds true in the Madison Valley, as the ambulance and fire departments are struggling to keep a full and active roster.

At 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, a Sheridan resident informed town officials there was low water pressure, according to Bonnie O’Neill, Madison County public information officer.
