Elk in the mountains surrounding the Ruby Valley continue to do well despite another hunting season with many hunters and good harvest numbers.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks completes phone surveys following every hunting season to collect information about hunter harvest and more. Dean Waltee, FWP biologist in the Ruby Valley, recently released the elk harvest survey results from the Tobacco Root and Gravelly elk management units (EMU).
“Overall, it was a very successful year from an elk harvest perspective and elk continue to do very well,” Waltee told The Madisonian.
